Prayer of “The Bleak Midwinter”
O
Lord of Light: Shine on us in the midst of these dreary months of winter, so
that we shall not bemoan this season but embrace it. As it forces us into
hibernation, let us take our rest with thanksgiving. If it imposes upon us a
“downtime,” make us aware that this may be precisely what we all need.
Christmas
with all its busyness has barely behind us; Springtime with all its busyness
will come soon enough. Help us to honor and respect the solitude, calm, and
quiet nothingness that is ours, that is for us, now.
